MISSISSIPPI OFFICE FRAMING COMPLETE

The framing for Mississippi is now complete! Constructed in a "tilt-up" process, the CLT wall panels have all been installed on Waechter Architecture's new office. All surfaces in the building - with the exception of the concrete floor - are exposed mass timber wood, creating rooms with a strong sense of permanence and beauty. Originating from Austria, the spruce panels measure up to 39 feet in length and vary in widths from 2'-4'' to just over 7 ft. The CLT forms a rigid structure through a series of highly engineered connection details - from the hold-downs anchoring the wall panels to the foundation system through continuous half-laps and hidden straps binding the vertical panels together. After all the calculations, coordination and manufacturing logistics, the serene end result is everything we hoped for and more! Last Friday, the WA office took a tour of the new space. It's exciting the experience the "materiality" of the CLT in person and see how it evolves with the moving light throughout the day.
