MISSISSIPPI OFFICE UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Since Waechter Architecture's inception it has been our dream to build our own office on Mississippi Avenue. We are very excited to share after 10 years the project is under construction!
On Day One, the building will have retail and workshop space on the ground floor, offices on the second floor, and one apartment spanning the third floor. As the building evolves over time, the spaces are designed to accommodate changing uses.
Mississippi will be the first commercial project in Oregon to use cross-laminated timber (CLT) for the entire structure overcoming the unique challenges inherent in a seismic zone by working closely with our structural engineering team at KPFF throughout all phases of design. All surfaces in the building - with the exception of the concrete floor - are exposed mass timber wood, creating rooms with a a strong sense of permanence and beauty.
Led by the Project Manager Alexis Coir and in-house Construction Director Andrew Friedman, we have the unique opportunity to act as our own builder. You can find more information about the project here.
