"Making Architecture" exhibition opens during AIA Sarasota Design Conference
As part of Sarasota Design Week Waechter Architecture unveils the exhibition “Making Architecture” for the first time. The exhibition runs in congruence with the AIA Florida Gulf Coast Design Conference in which Ben was a featured speaker.
This exhibition explores the inner workings of the architectural process. Three years ago, we decided to reflect on the work we had done up to that point as a way of evaluating our process and products. What immediately became apparent through this was a series of common threads in our projects that had, what we determined to be, strong clarity. The three themes that stood out as drivers to successful projects: conceptual clarity, figure-ground clarity, and compositional clarity. With this basis, WA set out to explore these aspects of clarity through the process of model making.
Other participants in the Design Conference comprise a global group of leading practitioners, including Elisabetta Trezzani (Partner at Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Genoa, Italy), Dr. Sherry Ahrentzen (Professor of Housing Studies, University of Florida), Claire Weisz (Founding Partner of WXY Architecture in New York City), Dr. Dickson Despommier (Professor Emeritus, Columbia University) and William Horgan (Partner at Grimshaw Architects in New York City).
