WA WEST COAST HOUSES
Waechter Architecture is fortunate to be working on various house projects across the west coast. All of them are influenced by the place and landscapes that surround them. From the Dunes of Oregon to the desert of Ojai, California we're excited to work beyond the urban context of Portland to design houses that respond to the distinct character of their environment and accentuate the experience of inhabiting specific places.

Dune House, Oregon Coast
New construction within the Oregon coastal dunes. The house is situated in the grass covered sand dunes that connect the local hillside to the beach, combining open living and private rooms with directed and extensive views of the coastline.

Woodland, Washington
New construction set into the hillside of forested landscape of Woodland, Washington between Mount Adams and Mount St. Helens. Integrated into a high point on the site, the house provides a series of panoramic and mediated views across the forested watershed.

Oakland Hills, California
Renovation of existing house and addition of ADU to the terraced hillside in Oakland, CA. The project bridges the backyard of the existing house to a lush steeply sloping hillside, incorporating adjacent landscaping for the use of the ADU and unveiling expansive views across the Oakland Hills.

Ojai, California
Renovation of existing house in Ojai, California. The house's extensive plan provides an armature for a retrofit of discreet experiences across the site, framing views and localized exterior amenities.

Rimrock, Bend, Oregon
New retreat, office, and spa for clients set in the high desert of Bend, Oregon. The project's location on the low side of the steeply sloping site activates the local landscape of the lot, uniquely connecting the existing house to exterior activities and circulation across the site.
