We're excited to share our newest project, a mixed-used masterplan and redevelopment in Detroit's Woodbridge Neighborhood. Continuing our partnership with XYZ development, the sites for the project are located adjacent to Woodbridge's Danish Brotherhood Hall, a community event space that Waechter Architecture and XYZ are currently renovating and reimagining.
The project began with research and a masterplan that drew both on the distinct and vibrant character of Woodbridge and the specific history of the sites in question. Building on the pedestrian-centric, communal quality of the neighborhood, the new development reimagines the historic site plan, creating a series of linked public spaces framed by four new buildings. The architecture itself responds to the tradiional architectural types of the neighborhood, revisiting the row home and pre-work walk-up as the primary residential building models.
The project comprises approximately 65,000 square feet across four buildings and includes 57 residential units and 7,000 square feet of retail and commercial space.
